River City Panthers. RCP is a part of the Central Basketball Association. A well develop league brought forth by the well creative owners of the 4 Major teams from the CBL league in 2013.
After much communication, prayer and understanding, and creative methods. The Bowling Green Team, MT Storms, St. Louis Hawks and our Home team River City Panthers, join together in order to form the Central Basketball Association "CBA".
After having a major conversation with CO-Owner Bishop Smith and CO-Owner Mr. Dawsey last Saturday at the River City Panthers Tryout, I now understand why the decision was made to stand strong with the CBA family. The quote I obtain from Bishop Smith or as the players call him "Papa Smurf" Because of his short size, and the fact he is always mentoring others, he clearly stated:
"Our League is a strong family that is here to do something different, we are more then just talk, we are about actions. We may not have all the money, or big places to host our games, but our true intentions to present these players in for them to obtain bigger opportunities within the basketball industry, from D-League to Overseas opportunities."
I also asked Bishop Smith do he truly believe that this could take place?
"Its is not about what I think, it is about what I believe, and how strong my faith is. I am not doing this for me, I am doing this for them, I want our young men to understand that there is a better life out here instead of selling drugs, gang banging etc, they can have that chance of being seen by other professional teams, if they take this chance very serious.
That their dreams of becoming a professional basketball player and one day play in the NBA can come true. So no matter what I do on my end, they have to continue to show the world that they are professional on and off the court.
For in today Society; dreams are put on hold because we are also looking for the almighty dollar, instead of coming up with a strong vision in order to kept that almighty dollar. You can have all the money in the world, but what good is it doing when you can even help someone achieve their dreams or goal.
Please don't quote me wrong, I am not rich money wise, but spiritually, mentally and emotionally, I am a very rich man. And I want to grant these young men this same creative feeling I have inside.
Also want to show our home town Peoria, IL. We have not lost our touch as one of the Biggest Basketball Fan Town in Central IL. We still got it people!
All we have to do is start supporting team, and players, help us continue to grow by coming out to the games, and events we will put together this season. We are not just here to be within the community, but be a part of the Community. In others words, we must put Faith in Action!"
To back up what Bishop Smith express so deeply, CBA also feel the same way.
Because of the 4 original franchises of the Central Basketball
League (CBL) merged together to build the league CBA: the Central
Basketball Association. The CBA is building upon the success of its
teams' first season that was just recently completed in 2013 , and is now building upon the concept of mental strength, physical strength, professionalism, community advocacy and improvements concept in the
world of minor league basketball. Strong, financially sound franchises.
CBA has established where all teams are now broadcasting online video at every game, live interviews and Internet radio broadcasting at every game. They have also improve on stats keeping, information and records of the team, as well as each player. With strong detailed & accurate team and individual statistics it will grant CBA a better opportunity to present players to Overseas teams as well as D-League Teams.
I am also very excited about the change and the development of this league, with the upcoming news about the teams that will be playing within CBA within the next few weeks. I will grant you a small test of what is ahead with the fact that the team has establish a East Division and West Division. "Think about that". In contrast to that, I will be hosting a interview with different owners of the CBA league and the CBA Board of Directors very soon.
I do know that this league is very serious, and they are very professional, I seen that at the tryouts last Saturday afternoon. At this point to what I have seen I know that CBA will continue to applied and follow a strict adherence to National Basketball Association (NBA) rules to all their teams. This will also allowed them to take advantage of technological resources through a user-friendly website, www.playcba.com, their CBA Mobile-application which you can now download and now the Hoop City Sports Radio news blog which you can read here, and be able to hear live games and player interviews on TVO1IRadio Station, www.tvo1iradio.net.
It is also express that they will be working directly with agents and scouts as a genuine bridge for players to receive those overseas or d-league contracts.
For Example: 3 Players from MT Storms was grant that blessing and 2 of those players are playing overseas and 1 with D-League, A player off of the Bowling Green has been blessed to go overseas. Once again they are about actions, not just mere words.
All this have lead up to a strong concept, a strong corporate management structure, and a different outlook on semi-pro basketball teams and leagues, especially here in the Central IL and Surrounding areas. I have also been informed that within the next few days CBA will release their season schedule, as well as the River City Panthers tickets are now on sell.
When I spoke to Chief Adminstrative Ms. D. Smith, it is clear that RCP will charge $8.00 dollars at the door for every home game, seasonal ticket packages with discounts, VIP Packages. They will also be host events Jersey Game Night, Photo Game Night and Youth Game Night. As well as packages for sponsors. (More information about sponsors package coming soon)
So I say to you: Watch Out Central IL and Surrounding areas, it seem that River City Panthers have step up the plate and are truly here to stay for a very long time.
Come out and support your neighborhood CBA team & Semi-Pro Basketball team"The River City Panthers."
