News Release
February 10, 2014 it is Officials today announce the formation of a new professional basketball league. The Central Basketball Association will begin play in the Spring of 2014 with its first games to be played on Saturday, March 1st. The CBA is initially comprised of 7 teams for the inaugural season with 4 additional teams set to join in 2015.

The league is focused on a specific swath of the United States from the traditional Midwest to the Mid-South. The first seven teams are: the Bowling Green Hornets (Bowling Green, Ky.), Chattanooga Rail Runners (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Fort Wayne Flite (Ft. Wayne, Ind.), Memphis Soul Kings (Memphis, Tenn.), Middle Tennessee Storm (Nashville, Tenn.), River City Panthers (Peoria, Ill.), and the Saint Louis Hawks. Additional teams for 2015 will be from the following markets: Chicago, Columbus (Ohio), Lexington (Ky.), South Bend (Ind.).
The CBA's original 4 teams, (Bowling Green, Middle Tennessee, River City, and St. Louis) all migrated from the Central Basketball League and formed a team owner-based organization that governs the now 7 team CBA. Each owner has an area of expertise that they will focus on for the league in general. The league's office is based in the Washington D.C. area.

The focus of the CBA will be to provide a platform where players will compete at a high level to gain exposure building their resumes to obtain opportunities to make an International, NBA D-League, or even NBA roster.

The brand of basketball to be played in the CBA will be straightforward with rules similar to the NBA with shot clocks and other professional characteristics. The goal is to expose players to the professional game. The game day experience in CBA cities will be exciting with halftime shows, special events and sponsor promotions.

General information about the league and individual team pages will be provided via the league state-of-the art website at www.playcba.com. In addition the league has a FREE Mobile App available for both iOS and Android systems and is currently available for download.
